Tascam LA-40MKIII er designet med fokus på at sikre problemfri kompatibilitet mellem professionelt udstyr og semi-professionelt eller forbrugerudstyr. Enheden har fire RCA-indgange og -udgange (–10 dBV, ubalanceret) samt fire XLR-indgange og -udgange (+4 dBu/–20 dBu, balanceret), hvilket sikrer optimal niveau- og impedanstilpasning til en bred vifte af applikationer, herunder studieoptagelsessystemer, broadcast- og streamingmiljøer og AV-installationer. Den indbyggede kanallinkmatrix gør det også muligt for enheden at fungere som en lyddistributionsforstærker (ADA) til at forsyne flere optagere eller håndtere multizone-lydrouting.
Kontakter på bundpanelet giver mulighed for at vælge et nominelt niveau på +4 dBu eller –20 dBu for hver kanal, og ±12 dB trim-pots på frontpanelet gør perfekt niveautilpasning nem. LED'er på frontpanelet indikerer signaltilstedeværelsen for hver kanal. LA-40MKIII har også jordløft-kontakter for hver kanal og en kombineret master-kontakt for at undgå jordsløjfer.
